Bachelor's Degree required.
3 years transportation experience required - this individual is required to manage larger projects, the work requires a greater degree of evaluation, creativity and judgment and is performed under moderate supervision. Preferred experience working with trucking carriers, including negotiations. Preferred experience in the food distribution or food manufacturing industry. Knowledge of the logistics industry and its capabilities.
Computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, data warehouse required. Must be a self-starter with strong organizational skills. Ability to manage or escalate issues. Basic understanding of Continuous Improvement tools & methodologies.
Proven analysis to support management of the transportation network through optimized utilization, pricing and cost savings. Develop recommendations to utilize the most economically advantageous and efficient means of delivering products based on an evaluation of freight classifications, tariff rates and operating capabilities in evaluation of freight classifications, tariff rates and operating capabilities in concurrence with delivery schedules and deadlines. Conduct and execute projects optimizing current transportation lanes, finding opportunities to reduce costs and improve performance to our customers. Work closely with IS on the development of new systems or system enhancements. Support daily outbound transportation operations to include planning and scheduling of loads, routing deliveries and monitoring delivery compliance and performance. Develop, monitor and communicate KPI's and metrics for department and carrier performance. Maintain freight rate reports for accuracy and compliance. Compile, maintain and update carrier contracts. Supervise the activity of the required reporting and reconciliation. Support cross functional supply chain opportunities. Create reports and cost analysis for management of freight cost drivers. Assist sales team by providing analysis for freight costing and opportunities. Ability to successfully communicate in a clear and concise manner with internal and external contact at all levels.
Regular attendance required. Must interact cordially with co-workers. Perform any other duties as assigned.
